The YMCA of the USA announced this week that it has adopted a
new branding strategy that includes a new name and logo. YMCA
Canada has been monitoring the strategy's development over the past
two years and began our own rebranding exercise a year ago. We
expect to complete it in May 2011. At this time, we have decided to
refresh but not to change our name and logo.
The 53 member Associations of YMCA Canada are separately
incorporated and registered charitable organizations. They
affiliate regionally, nationally and internationally on the basis
of mutual interests and concerns. Therefore, decisions taken by
YMCAs in other countries have no direct bearing on the governance
or operations of Canadian YMCAs.
