National Board of Directors

YMCA Canada is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors that oversees national plans and priorities. Associations nominate Board members, who have frequently served as volunteers on local Association Boards. This ensures our Board members are well versed in local issues, challenges and opportunities facing Canada's YMCAs and YMCA-YWCAs. Directors serve for a three-year term that is renewed once. Regarding national operations, the President and Chief Executive Officer of YMCA Canada reports to the National Board.

National Board's Code of Conduct

All Board of Directors sign YMCA Canada's Code of Conduct, which involves committing to accountability and good stewardship of resources, promoting diversity and inclusion in all Board activities and across the movement, being prepared and informed about Board issues, exercising due diligence and acting in the best interest of the YMCA in Canada. Board members agree to ensure privacy and confidentiality of Board matters and that no conflict of interest exists during their term. Board members act as YMCA ambassadors, advocates for the YMCA mission and champions of the YMCA's philanthropic activities.
